I tried a couple of things that didnt work, then resorted to a quick Google search that landed me at Stu Nicholls CSSPlay site where he has a post on CSS Scrolling Tables. Stus solution is very clean compared to some others I found, however it didnt handle the very complex table I was dealing with. It does work fine when the data in each column of the table are close to the same width, but my table has one column where there is text that varies from a few words to a lengthy paragraph. To make things even worse, there are occasional cases in my data where a column will have a Long.

At this point I was about ready to ditch the table markup completely and just render it all with divs. I even coded it up, and quickly discovered that I could make fixed headings and data rows align correctly, but there was one thing that wasnt working. HTML tables do have the benefit that they render all the cells in a row with the same height. That wasnt true in my div based markup. Most people developing PCBs independently, like entrepreneurs, hackers, and freelance designers, usually cant afford to shell out that kind of cash on software. Although significantly cheaper than Altium, neither Eagle or Or. Cad can really be considered affordable. Or. Cad has a price tag of 2,3. Eagle recently changed their payment structure to a recurring fee of 6. Nonetheless most will find the requirement to pay a recurring fee indefinitely to be a big negative for Eagle. They are all also difficult to use. Plan on spending at least several days, but more likely weeks, learning how to use any of them especially Eagle. A powerful, but cheaper and easier to use PCB design package is called Dip. Trace, which is what I personally recommend, especially for new designers. Although Diptrace is a fantastic option for new designers, its also powerful enough to handle the most complicated designs. One of my favorite things about Dip. Trace, other than its low price, is that it offers several upgrade levels starting from only 7. The top package is 9. However, most projects wont require the top package, and you can get by with one of the lower level packages costing only 4. You can start with the 7. Starter version and work your way up as needed. You only pay the difference between each level. What about the various free PCB design tools availableNormally, I dont recommend any of them because they force you to use their PCB production services. That may be okay for a hobby project but not if you plan to ever mass produce your product. These free tools usually lack the ability to output the PCB layout as Gerber files which is necessary if you want the flexibility to manufacture your boards via any vendor. One exception is Easy.

If you collaborating with other engineers is critical then youll probably be better off with one of the more popular packages. GROUP 3 Engineer entrepreneurs If you have prior experience designing electronics or wish to learn how then you may be better off designing your product yourself. Or at least as much as possible. The Most Important Criteria for PCB Design Software. For me, as well as most entrepreneurs and a majority of freelance engineers, there are five primary criteria that matter most when selecting a circuit design software package CRITERIA 1 Must be intuitive to use Dip. Trace is the clear winner when it comes to being intuitive to use. Using Dip. Trace youll be able to begin designing your circuit almost immediately with a very minimal learning curve. No need to waste hours reading a boring manual with Dip. Trace. Eagle is the clear loser in regards to being intuitive to use. It has the worst user interface of just about any design package Ive ever used. Eagle is utterly frustrating to learn and youll waste days or weeks trying to learn it. In fact, it will probably be many weeks before you are actually comfortable with it, if ever. CRITERIA 2 Must be reasonably priced Dip. Trace is easily the most affordable PCB design package. It is only half the price of Eagle, or only an eighth the price of Altium. Dip. Trace also has a low barrier to entry because you can begin with their low cost Starter version and upgrade your way up as needed. CRITERIA 3 Needs to have all of the features youll ever need, but not every feature you could ever imagine There is no clear winner here, and it really depends on your needs. That being said, Dip. Trace has had every feature Ive ever needed. CRITERIA 4 Ideally it should be a standard and in widespread use. Altium is the clear winner for this criteria, with Eagle in second, Or. Cad in third place, and Dip. Trace coming in last. CRITERIA 5 Large libraries of components available. All four packages come with huge libraries of components. Large libraries are critical because creating new components can introduce errors that wont be captured by any of the verification tools. That being said, regardless of the package, youll eventually need to create some custom components yourself. Because they are so popular, Altium and Eagle are probably the winners for this criteria because component manufacturers are more likely to provide a component library for one of these two packages. This has never really been an issue for me and Ive found Dip. Traces libraries to be quite extensive. The Ultimate Cost of Complicated Software. You need a computer with Windows to run Mac OS X on Windows of course. The System Type of your copy of Windows needs to be 6. OS X Mountain Lion is a 6. If you have a 3. 2 bit copy of Windows, you can only install Mac OS X Snow Leopard on Virtualbox. You will need at least 4 GB of RAM and a dual core two core processor or better. Personally, the computer I was using for this had a 4 core processor and 1. GB RAM, which is way more than enough. You also need about 1. GB of unused hard drive space. Right click on My Computer on your desktop and click Properties to check the stats on your computer. If it doesnt directly tell you how many cores your processor has, look up your processor model on Wikipedia or Google. You also want to find out whether your processor is made by Intel or AMD. Computers with AMD processors will not work with Mountain Lion. General Requirements. 
Virtualbox This virtualization suite is free, and though it doesnt offer official support for Mac OS X, it works well enough. Atkos ML2 Unfortunately, the standard method for installing OS X Mountain Lion on PCs which uses a paid copy of the Mountain Lion installer doesnt work with Virtualbox. Instead, youll have to distros like i. Atkos, which is currently the most popular distro for Mountain Lion. I wont go into details, but you can download these copies from about any bittorrent website by using a bittorrent client its a. GB in size. Multibeast 4. 
You will need to use Multibeast 4. Hackintosh post installation tool, to set up the Mountain Lion virtual machine after the initial installation. While Multibeast 4. Mac OS X Lion instead of Mountain Lion, in our case, it actually works better than newer versions of Multibeast. Registration is required on the tonymacx. Step 1 Prep. Download Virtualbox, install it, and open it up. Also, if you want to be able to view USB devices from your OS X Mountain Lion virtual machine, download the Virtualbox Extension Pack and run it before going to Step 2. Step 2 Create a new virtual machine.

To create a virtual machine, open up Virtualbox and click New on the upper left. Give your new virtual machine a name, and choose Mac OS X for the OS Type. VDI is the original format for Virtualbox, while VDMK is the format used by VMWare. If youre considering getting a copy of VMWare, you might want to choose VDMK. Otherwise, just choose VDI. I recommend creating a dynamically expanding disk the only other option, fixed size storage, will eat up your hard drive. Step 3 Give your new virtual machine an operating system. Your virtual machine will now be created. But dont stop now you still need to change a few settings before your machine will actually work. Your new virtual machine will show up on the left column of the Virtualbox start page. Select your Mac OS X virtual machine single click from the main page of Virtualbox, and open up the virtual machine settings. Once the settings open up, go to System and uncheck the Enable EFI box. This is by far the most important single setting that you will need to change. EFI, which stands for Extended Firmware Interface, is a feature that helps operating systems start up. Unfortunately, Mac OSX requires speshul EFI, so the EFI that Virtualbox uses doesnt work. Once youre done with that, go to the settings for Storage. In the storage tree box, youll see a CD icon labeled Empty. Click on it and click Choose a virtual CDDVD disk file. In the window that pops up, choose the. Atkos ML2. This way, when your virtual machine starts for the first time, it will boot into i. Atkos. Step 4 Install OS X Mountain Lion. Start up your virtual machine. You will come up to the i. Atkos boot screen, with a CD icon in the middle. After a few seconds, the virtual machine will automatically start the Mac OS X installer. This startup process may take a few minutes. Eventually, you will reach the welcome page of the installer. Continue, and you will come up to a page that asks you for a destination for your Mac install. Oh no, the page is blankWell have to fix that. To do this, start up Disk Utility located under the Utilities menu. Mac OSX can only be installed on a completely clean disk, so you need to use Disk Utility to wipe your Virtualbox hard disk. Click on the Virtualbox hard disk in Disk Utility and erase it. Dont worry, theres nothing important on it. On the installation summary page for Mac OSX, the Virtualbox hard disk should now be showing up. Click the Customize button on the lower left hand corner of the summary page. This is where using a distro becomes really useful i. Atkos allows you to install extra Hackintosh drivers and kexts, straight from the OS X Mountain Lion installer. The Customize page essentially does the same thing as Multibeast, though the layout and most of the names of the options are different. The default selection will enable Mac OS X to boot from the virtual machine without any assistance. In addition to this selection, go to Bootloader Options Graphics Mode and choose whatever resolution best fits your monitor in my case, I chose 1. Selecting this wont actually change anything at the moment however, you will need this for Step 7, when we make the screen of the virtual machine bigger. Once you have selected the appropriate options from the Customize screen, return to the installation summary page and click Install. When the installation finishes, Mac OS X will crash into a black screen with white text. This is normal Mac OS X has installed successfully. Now proceed to the next step. Step 5 Boot it up. Restart your virtual machine, and eject i. Atkos from your virtual DVD drive. To eject i. Atkos, right click on the CD icon at the bottom right of the Virtualbox window, and un check the i. Atkos file. Your mouse cursor will probably be trapped inside the virtual machine. Press the right Ctrl key on your keyboard to allow your mouse to escape. After ejecting i. Atkos, restart your virtual machine again. Now, at the bootup screen, youll see an icon for the hard drive where you installed Mountain Lion also, the screen of your virtual machine might be bigger than before. After a few seconds, Mountain Lion will boot, and you should eventually be led to the Mac OS X setup screen. Fill it out, then mission accomplished This concludes the first part of the guide.
